We are delighted to welcome you to Myton Gardens Primary School and look forward to greeting our two new Reception classes joining us in September. This is such an exciting time for you and your child, and we are committed to making the transition into school as smooth, supportive, and joyful as possible. Over the coming months, we will continue to update our website with useful information, key dates, and guidance to help you feel fully prepared for the start of your child’s journey with us.
We believe it is incredibly important that all of our children have the opportunity to begin forming relationships with staff and peers before they start in September. This also allows us to get to know your child and ensure that our provision and curriculum are tailored to meet the needs of all our learners. Before the end of the Summer Term, we will contact nurseries to discuss your child’s time there and explore how we can best support their journey at Myton Gardens Primary School. We will also endeavour to visit some children in local nurseries.
All parents and carers are invited to a Parent Introduction Evening, where you will receive further information and guidance about your child’s first year at Myton Gardens. This will be held towards the end of the summer term. There will also be some sessions before the summer for children to come in with parents and spend time in their new classrooms.
In the first week of September, teachers and teaching assistants will visit you and your child at home. We believe these home visits are incredibly beneficial for everyone involved, allowing children and parents to meet staff in a relaxed and informal setting. It provides a wonderful opportunity for children to share things that are special to them and gives parents the chance to talk freely and ask any questions they may have. Following this, children will begin school through a staggered intake process. This gentle start enables children to become familiar with their new setting, new adults, and new peers in a small‑group environment.
More information and specific dates will be shared with you once your child has been offered a place.
