SEND
Myton Gardens Primary School is an inclusive school. We aim to ensure that all pupils needs are met and they are able to flourish and develop their skills.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCO) is Beccy Kelsall Gooch (contact details: KelsallGooch.R@mga.svmat.uk) She identifies and monitors children who are placed on the Special Education Needs Register to ensure that all needs, whatever they may be, are fully met. The SENDCO liaises with class teachers and relevant outside agencies to plan relevant provision. Parents are kept fully informed regarding their child's progress and regular review meetings are held throughout the year.
Children with special needs are primarily supported within the classroom by their class teacher and teaching assistants. Year group staff are aware of the needs of the pupils and, with input from the SENDCO, they maintain a provision map, which details how individual needs will be met through the use of an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). Progress is closely monitored and appropriate interventions and additional support are available to pupils who need it.
All staff will receive regular training from the SENDCo as well as external professionals. This is to enable them to identify and respond to a wide range of needs. Planned training topics for the Autumn Term are:
- ASC
- Inclusive classroom practive
- Makaton basics
We have close links with a number of outside agencies such as: Educational Psychologists, Speech and language therapists and the Integrated Disability Service, all of whom support us in developing and delivering an inclusive curriculum for our whole school community.
See our policies page for the inclusion policy.

Welcome to Owl Class, Myton Gardens Specialist Resource Provision (SRP)!
We are lucky enough to be part of a brand new school with a purpose built classroom which includes a sensory room, a kitchen area and our own separate outdoor space. We support children with an EHCP whose primary area of need is ‘Communication and Interaction’ and have a wonderful team of dedicated staff; Mrs Chapman (SRP Lead Teacher), Miss Allsopp (Teaching Assistant) and Miss Williams (Teaching Assistant). The children in Owl Class also have access to a Speech and Language Therapist, the Specialist Teaching Service, Educational Psychologists and Occupational Therapists, should these services be required to support them on their learning journey.
Owl Class provides a nurturing environment designed to enable learners to develop their communication and interaction skills through adult led interventions and purposeful play, with our curriculum designed to meet each child's individual needs. As a valued part of the whole school community, children in Owl Class are also encouraged and supported to spend time in the mainstream setting, interacting with peers and adults throughout the school and engaging with wider memorable experiences such as school trips.
